South Dakota Cabinet Company Breaks Ground On $10M Expansion

HARRISBURG, S.D. (AP) — An all-wood cabinetry business in southeastern South Dakota has broken ground on a new 60,000-sqaure-foot manufacturing facility.

Showplace Wood Products in Harrisburg officially broke ground Friday on the $10 million expansion that will allow the company to manufacture new types of cabinets known as full-access or frameless cabinetry.

Representatives from the company were joined by Gov. Dennis Daugaard and local officials.

The employee-owned company says the expansion will allow it to grow its markets. It says it is already one of the largest American-made cabinet manufacturers. It sells products to all 50 states and parts of Canada.

The new plant is expected to be completed this fall, with cabinet construction set to begin in December.
