Daugaard: Over $2.8M In Funding To Help 6 Community Projects

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Gov. Dennis Daugaard has awarded more than $2.8 million in grant funding to aid six projects in communities throughout the state.

The governor says the Community Development Block Grants will help complete the projects totaling more than $15.3 million. The funding will go to Brown County, Dewey County, Florence, Hosmer, Montrose and Wessington Springs.

All communities except Wessington Springs are receiving $515,000.

The funding for Brown County will assist Safe Harbor with the construction of the new domestic abuse facility in Aberdeen.

The grants to Dewey County and Florence will toward improving water distribution systems. Hosmer will use the money to improve its wastewater system and Montrose will use its grant to help eliminate flooding.

Wessington Springs is receiving more than $237,000 to assist with water and wastewater infrastructure improvements.
