Fire Destroys Mobile Dental Clinic That Assisted SD Children
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A mobile dental clinic that logged about 130,000 miles across South Dakota bringing services to children has been destroyed by a fire.
The Capital Journal ( ) reports the dental truck operated by Delta Dental caught fire while on its way to Pierre after spending a week in Lower Brule. The incident happened on Highway 34.
The cause of the fire has not been determined and insurance adjusters are expected to inspect the wreckage over the next few days. The truck cost $400,000 when Delta Dental got it in 2004.
As a result of the fire, clinics scheduled for July in Gettysburg and Highmore have been postponed.
Mike Mueller with Delta Dental says the organization has already contacted the Ronald McDonald House Charities to ask about getting a replacement.
