Incumbent Loses To Challenger In Mitchell Mayoral Election
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — The city of Mitchell is getting new leadership.
Challenger Jerry Toomey defeated incumbent Mayor Ken Tracy in Tuesday’s election. The Daily Republic reports ( ) that Toomey got 58 percent of the 2,630 votes that were cast. He’ll be sworn into office in July.
Toomey lost in a six-way race to Tracy in the 2012 mayoral election. Tracy says he’s surprised by Toomey’s easy win in this year’s election.
