Project To Complete Meade Co. Rural Water System Kicks Off
STURGIS, S.D. (AP) — Ground has been broken for a project that will complete an entire rural water system in Meade County.
The new project involves installing 110 miles of pipeline, storage reservoirs and pumping stations. The nonprofit Bear Butte Valley Water, Inc. last year drilled a deep well as the first step in developing the water system.
Neal Rowett is Bear Butte Valley’s board president and an area life-long resident. Rowett says this project will provide drinking water of “excellent quality with enough volume and pressure to fulfill the needs of our members.”
The nonprofit has received more than $4 million in grants for the construction of the system.
