PUC Commissioner Kristie Fiegen Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota Public Utilities Commissioner Kristie Fiegen (FEE’-gihn) says she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Fiegen tells KCCR-AM that a team of medical providers in Sioux Falls is working with her to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Fiegen says she expects a full recovery.

Fiegen is a former state legislator from Sioux Falls. She has served on the three-member regulatory panel since 2011.

The PUC regulates investor-owned utility companies and has a more limited role overseeing wireless communication companies and cooperative, independent and municipal utilities.
