BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch that’s expected to last until 10 p.m. Tuesday for several counties in North Dakota and three in South Dakota.

The watch in North Dakota extends from Sioux, Grant, Morton and Mercer counties in the west to Griggs, Barnes, Ransom and Sargent counties in the east. The watch goes into South Dakota to include Campbell, Corson and McPherson counties.

Meteorologist David Dillahunt with the Weather Service in Bismarck says no tornadoes have been spotted in the area covered by the watch, but conditions are such that a tornado could develop.

Dillahunt says the watch isn’t as serious as a tornado warning, but people still need to be on their toes about it.

Dillahunt adds at least one funnel cloud has been spotted.
