Severe Thunderstorms Create Damage In Eastern South Dakota
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Severe storms are creating a swath of damage through eastern South Dakota.
The Argus Leader reports that winds gusting to 100 mph downed trees and power poles in Garretson, and blew over four large tanks at a fertilizer plant. A gas leak prompted the evacuation of a mobile home park. The local fire hall was opened as an emergency shelter.
The strong winds have damaged buildings in the region. KELO-TV reports that a century-old barn near Corsica was among them.
Wind gusts strong enough to down trees and blow over Dumpsters were reported in Pierre.
