Woman Dies After Boat Collision Below Missouri River Dam
HARTINGTON, Neb. (AP) — A 68-year-old Nebraska woman has died after a collision of two boats below Gavins Point Dam on the Missouri River.
The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says the accident occurred about 9:55 a.m. Monday in the tail waters east of the dam. The dam sits on the Missouri River between South Dakota and Nebraska, about 3½ miles west of Yankton, South Dakota.
The woman was a passenger in one of the boats. The commission says she was taken to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton for treatment and pronounced dead there.
Nebraska Game and Parks spokesman Jerry Kane said Tuesday that he couldn’t immediately provide the woman’s name. The Cedar County attorney didn’t immediately return a call from The Associated Press.
An autopsy has been ordered as the investigation continues.
