Codington County In Eastern SD Gets New State’s Attorney

WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — Codington County in eastern South Dakota has a new state’s attorney.

The Watertown Public Opinion ( ) reports that Patrick McCann has been promoted to the position. He will be taking over for current state’s attorney Dawn Elshere on July 30.

McCann has served as the county’s deputy state’s attorney. Codington County commissioners set his new salary was set at $87,500.

Elshere is leaving her position after seven years on the job to be a magistrate judge at the Third Judicial Circuit.
