Female Inmate At Brown County Jail Dies In Hospital
ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) — Authorities say a female prisoner who was found unconscious and not breathing in a Brown County holding cell died at a local hospital.
The Aberdeen American News reports ( ) 24-year-old Sarah Lee Circle Bear died Sunday, the same day she was found unconscious in her cell.
Brown County coroner Mike Carlsen says the results of an autopsy conducted Monday were inconclusive. He says he’s waiting on toxicology and tissue results to determine Circle Bear’s cause of death.
Carlsen says Circle Bear had minor injuries after a minor car crash Friday. He says those injuries would not have caused her death.
Brown County Deputy Keith Baker says Circle Bear was jailed on a bond violation. Court records show she had two pending cases in Brown County for driving under the influence.
