SD Man Charged In Fatal Stabbing On Indian Reservation
EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota man has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of a man on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation.
Federal authorities are accusing Corbyn Big Eagle, of Eagle Butte, of stabbing Austin Miner on June 16.
Federal court records show tribal officers found Miner lying on the ground at Big Eagle’s apartment bleeding from a chest wound. He was later pronounced dead at the local Indian Health Services hospital.
Authorities say a witness saw Miner acting “unruly, aggressive and trying to fight” before Big Eagle stabbed him.
Tribal officials found what appeared to be a bloody knife and a recently washed knife in a dish drying rack at the apartment.
Big Eagle was arrested at the scene.
