SD Woman Who Fled After Crash Injured 5 Gets 2 Years
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota woman who admitted to fleeing after she caused a car crash that injured five people in Sioux Falls has been sentenced to two years in prison.
The Argus Leader reports ( ) 33-year-old Mandy Lee Running was sentenced on Thursday. She previously pleaded guilty to one count of felony hit-and-run. Prosecutors agreed to drop a second count in exchange for her guilty plea.
Authorities say the March 4 crash happened when Running drove a car through a stop sign and collided with another vehicle.
All of Running’s passengers were taken to a hospital. Police said three of the passengers gave Running’s name to police after she fled the scene.
The Sioux Falls woman was arrested days after the incident.
