Family Of 5 Sells House, Moves Into 200-square-foot Home
SELBY, S.D. (AP) — A family of five has downsized their living space, moving into a 200-square-foot home in northern South Dakota.
The Aberdeen American News ( ) reports Bethany and Matthew McBride sold their 2,500-square-foot house and bought their new tiny home for $25,000.
The house currently sits on Bethany McBride’s family’s farm in the Selby area, though she says the couple is deciding whether to stay in South Dakota.
Bethany McBride says she and her husband had looked into homes for self-sustainable lifestyles before going small. She says her kids were “all over” her in their old house anyway, and that she felt “almost claustrophobic” with so much to manage.
The family plans to move back up in size someday, with plans to buy a ranch and build a house.
