Rapid City Officer Hit In Head By Bat Thrown At Patrol Car
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A Rapid City police officer was struck in the head by a baseball bat when a suspect threw it at a patrol car.
Police say the officer wanted to question the man early Thursday about allegedly trying to use the bat to strike a car stopped at a red light. The man threw the bat at the patrol car. It smashed the windshield, then bounced off and hit the officer in the head.
The officer pursued the 19-year-old man and arrested him on charges including aggravated battery on law enforcement.
Police did not identify the officer or provide details on the severity of the officer’s injuries.
