Fire Makes Sioux Falls Apartment Building Uninhabitable
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Officials say that a Sioux Falls apartment building that caught fire is uninhabitable.
The city says that a minor was taken to the hospital for a small burn as a result of the fire. The building was successfully evacuated, and fire crews helped a resident down from a balcony using a ladder.
Firefighters were able to control the fire spread within about 10 minutes of arriving. Two of 12 apartments were heavily damaged by the fire, and the building was damaged by smoke.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue is reminding residents of the need to have working smoke detectors.
