Humane Society Open House To Feature Reunion
SPEARFISH, S.D. (AP) — The Western Hills Humane Society is showcasing its facilities and animals on Saturday during the organization’ second open house.
The Black Hills Pioneer reports ( ) that pet owners can get free city tags. Owners can also have their pets microchipped for $30, and rabies shots are available for $5.
Spearfish animal control officer Tate Hayford is also encouraging people to keep their pets’ microchips up to date and their vaccinations current.
The event starts at 11 a.m.
A 1 p.m. reunion and group photo is planned for of many of the dogs rescued in April after an SUV stopped in Spearfish with more than 40 animals inside. Six cats and 36 toy-breed dogs, mostly Chihuahuas, were discovered in a SUV on its way to Wisconsin.
