US Rep. Kristi Noem Addresses State Lawmakers In Pierre
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — Republican U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem says some of the most pressing issues facing Congress include fighting extremism abroad, trade agreements and overhauling the federal tax code.
Noem said Congress could take a tip from South Dakotans about building the economy on Thursday in a speech to state lawmakers about the most significant issues before federal legislators.
Noem says she wants to share with Congress South Dakotans’ knowledge that the state and federal governments don’t build the economy. Noem says people create jobs and says the South Dakota economy is powered by empowered people.
South Dakota’s lone U.S. representative says other issues Congress faces include opening up new markets through trade agreements and overhauling the federal tax code. She says now is the time to destroy the Islamic State group.
