South Dakota Man Arrested In Sioux City Prostitution Ring

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota man who paid $1 million over a four-year period for sex with an exotic dancer has been arrested in a Sioux City prostitution ring.

The Argus Leader ( ) reports 54-year-old David Karlen of De Smet is charged with soliciting a prostitute. He was among more than a dozen men arrested last week in the two-night sting conducted by the Sioux City Police Department.

Karlen was a star witness in a federal trial last year against Veronica Fairchild. She was accused of failing to pay taxes on money she earned working as an exotic dancer and performing sex acts on Karlen.

Fairchild was sentenced to nearly three years in prison and ordered to pay more than $214,600 in back taxes.
