Teens Facing Burglary Charges After Attempted Break-in
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Two teenage boys are facing second-degree burglary charges following an attempted break-in at a home in southwest Sioux Falls.
The Argus Leader ( ) says the 16-year-old boys were reported as escapees by Volunteers of America last Tuesday, and then warrants were issued for their arrest.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens says the teens had been placed at the charity’s Sioux Falls location and weren’t allowed to leave.
Officers received a report Tuesday afternoon that two boys were trying to enter a home’s side garage door.
Clemens says the boys were later found in a camper with stolen property and marijuana in their possession. He says police believe the stolen property is related to a series of recent burglaries in the area.
The two teens were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
