USD volleyball goes 1-1 on the road
The South Dakota women’s volleyball team went 1-1 on the road this weekend, defeating Western Illinois and falling to IUPUI in their first conference action of the season.
The Coyotes faced Western Illinois on Friday night, taking the match in four sets. Each set was decided by five points or less.
Senior Kim Bulaga led the coyotes with 15 digs, while sophomore Kendall Kritenbrink and junior Amber Aschoff led the Coyotes with 18 12 kills, respectively.
Junior Tori Kroll helped out on both sides of the net with 13 digs and 42 assists.
USD had little time to celebrate, hopping right onto the bus and towards Indianapolis to take on fellow Summit League foe Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.
Kritenbrink’s 27 kills wasn’t enough to make up for the Coyotes’ 29 attack errors as USD took their first conference loss of the season 3-1.
Bulaga had another sufficient night defensively bringing in 22 digs, bringing her total to 37 on the weekend.
Offensively, Kroll had another outstanding night of play, bringing in a season high of 57 assists. Senior Lindsey Sathre had 13 kills and Aschoff added 12.
The Coyotes, who have been out of town four straight weekends in a row, will bring the 2012 campaign on the DakotaDome on Friday night against Fort Wayne and Oakland on Sunday.
