SD Tractors, Farm Memorabilia To Be Taken To German Museum
FREDERICK, S.D. (AP) — A 14-generation German farmer has found some vintage agriculture implements in salvage yards and shelterbelts across South Dakota that he’s now taking to his home country.
Farmer Michael Dihlmann tells the Aberdeen American News ( ) that people in Germany “are fascinated” by old tractors. He says that most tractors that existed in Germany before the beginning of World War II were seized by the armed forces during the war.
So Dihlmann is taking to his home country nine tractors, a Model T truck and other farm memorabilia that he accumulated during his ag treasure hunt in the state. The items will be displayed at a museum to teach people about farming techniques.
Dihlmann says some tractors will be fixed up and others will be left in their rustic state.
