Standoff In Sioux Falls Ends Peacefully With Man’s Surrender

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Sioux Falls police have a man in custody after a three-hour standoff at an apartment building.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance incident about 9 p.m. Thursday in which a man had allegedly pointed a rifle at his wife and threatened to kill her.

Officers got the woman safely out of the apartment and evacuated surrounding residences and businesses. A hotel, restaurant and gas station were nearby.

As a SWAT team was getting into place, the man came out of the apartment unarmed and surrendered. The 43-year-old man was arrested on a charge of aggravated domestic assault.
