Yankton County Committee Working To Design Official Seal

YANKTON, S.D. (AP) — A committee of Yankton County officials and other community members is working to design an official seal for the county that incorporates important elements of the area.

The Yankton Daily Press and Dakotan reports officials are looking at ways to create a visible identity for the county.

Brian Hunhoff is Yankton County’s register of deeds. He says some county offices have used different symbols on stationary or uniform patches, but the committee’s goal is to come up with an image that represents the county’s government as a whole.

Hunhoff says the committee has discussed a wide variety of elements that could represent the county including agriculture, Native American imagery, Missouri River and cottonwood trees. He adds the committee hopes to have a design ready over the next few months.
