South Dakota Man Says Restaurant Gave Him Offensive Name Tag

WATERTOWN, S.D. (AP) — A South Dakota man is accusing a pizza restaurant where he worked of forcing him to wear an offensive name tag after he forgot his at home.

Caleb Larson says the owner of Pizza Ranch in Watertown gave him the name tag that read “braindead.”

Larson filed a lawsuit this month against the restaurant and its owner. Larson says he wore the name tag throughout his shift because he feared losing his job.

Owner Ross Olson in court filings admits giving Larson the name tag, but denies that Larson wore it.

Larson says he left the job the day after the incident. He says the incident caused him emotional distress. He is asking for compensatory damages in the lawsuit.

Olson wants a judge to dismiss the civil case.
