$1M Bond For SD Man Accused Of Stabbing Roommate To Death
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — A judge has set at $1 million the bond for a western South Dakota man accused of stabbing his roommate to death.
KOTA ( ) reports Magistrate Judge Todd Hyronimus on Tuesday set the bond for 21-year-old Samuel Tyburec. The Rapid City man has been charged with second-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Tyburec stabbed Matthew Wassenaar in the back five times on Saturday. Both were roommates at a subdivision southeast of Rapid City.
Tyburec’s attorney in court told the judge that Tyburec has no criminal history and is not a flight risk. But Hyronimus sided with the prosecution in setting the $1 million bond.
Second-degree murder carries a mandatary life prison sentence.
