Northern SD City Breaks Century-old Precipitation Record
MOBRIDGE, S.D. (AP) — The northern South Dakota city of Mobridge has broken a century-old precipitation record.
Meteorologist Ken Gillespie with the National Weather Service in Aberdeen says the community of 3,500 residents is having its wettest month on record with 9.16 inches of precipitation so far in May.
The city’s previous highest rainfall total was 8.85 inches, a record that set in June 1915.
The National Weather Service has kept weather statistics for the area since 1893.
