Attorney: Annette Bosworth ‘devastated;’ Appeal To Come
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — An attorney for a former South Dakota U.S. Senate candidate who has been convicted of felony election law violations says they plan to appeal to the state Supreme Court.
Bob Van Norman, an attorney for Sioux Falls physician Annette Bosworth, said Thursday they plan to appeal after her planned July sentencing.
A jury found Bosworth guilty Wednesday of six counts each of perjury and filing false documents. The charges stemmed from mishandling her candidate petitions for the Republican U.S. Senate primary.
Van Norman says Bosworth is “devastated.”
The convictions could jeopardize Bosworth’s medical license. She told The Associated Press in a text message that she’s “going to miss being a doctor.”
A state medical board official said in a recent email that a felony conviction “is not an automatic disqualifier.”
