Juveniles In Sioux Falls Steal Minivan, Flee Police, Crash

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Sioux Falls police are searching for several juveniles who allegedly stole a minivan and fled from officers after throwing fireworks at passing vehicles.

Officers decided not to give chase early Sunday due to high speeds, and say the driver of the van eventually lost control and crashed the vehicle into a tree.

All of the van’s occupants then fled on foot. Officers caught one of them — an 11-year-old boy. He was charged with possession of stolen property, fleeing police and obstructing an officer, and released to his parents.

Authorities are working to identify the others who were involved.
