Pierre Parks Reopening Following Post-storm Cleanup

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — City parks in Pierre and the back nine holes at a local golf course are reopening in time for the July Fourth weekend, after more than a week of cleanup following a severe storm.

The parks and portions of Hillsview Golf Course have been closed since June 22. Storms that day brought winds of up to 122 mph in the Pierre-Fort Pierre region, damaging roofs, trees, power poles and grain bins. No injuries were reported.

KCCR radio reports that city crews are finishing cleanup work, though some damaged trees still need trimming.
