Sioux Falls Inmate Fails To Return To Minimum-security Unit

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A minimum-security prison inmate in Sioux Falls has been placed on “escape” status for failing to return to prison after a job search.

The South Dakota Department of Corrections says inmate Ryan Dahl left the minimum-security unit on the grounds of the South Dakota State Penitentiary on Friday afternoon. He failed to return to the grounds by the scheduled time.

Dahl is a 21-year-old white man. He’s 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighs approximately 150 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Dahl is currently serving five years for receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, possession of more than two ounces of marijuana and distribution of marijuana to a minor.

Authorities say anyone who sees Dahl or knows of his whereabouts should contact law enforcement immediately.
