Capital One Closings Sioux Falls Office; 750 People Affected

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Capital One is pulling its offices out of Sioux Falls where it employs about 750 people.

Employees were told Thursday that the Virginia-based credit card company will close its Sioux Falls office by the end of the year.

Company spokeswoman Julie Rakes says Capital One Financial Corp. is shifting its call center strategy to be more “nimble, flexible and scalable” to meet customer needs.

The company says employees can apply for other jobs within the company or it will help them find new jobs. It will also offer severance packages.

Most of the jobs at its Sioux Falls location are customer service representatives.

The company tells KELO-TV it has had too much turnover and has had a hard time filling open positions.
