Former County Prosecutor Accused Of Rape To Change Pleas

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — A former South Dakota county prosecutor who has pleaded not guilty to child rape charges is scheduled to change his plea to at least some of the counts against him.

A change-of-plea hearing was scheduled in state court in Hughes County on Wednesday for former Walworth County State’s Attorney Christopher Jansen. He also faces similar charges in federal court.

Jansen is accused of child rape in Hughes County, and having child pornography on his computer. He was indicted in both state and federal courts last summer.
