Harrisburg Activities Director Was Prepared For Emergency
HARRISBURG, S.D. (AP) — A friend of one of the men credited with subduing a student authorities say shot the high school principal in Harrisburg says Activities Director Joey Struwe was prepared for such an incident.
Jim Dorman is Struwe’s friend and also a colleague — he is activities director at Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls. He tells the Argus Leader ( ) that Struwe once helped organize a safety conference focusing on scenarios that included what to do in the case of an active shooter.
Authorities say Struwe and Assistant Principal Ryan Rollinger tackled and subdued a student who shot Principal Kevin Lein in the arm on Wednesday morning. Lein suffered a minor flesh wound, and no students were hurt.
Struwe declined comment to the Argus Leader.
