Coyote Golf Teams Kick off 2025 Spring Season

The USD’s men and women golf teams began their 2025 spring season in Goodyear, Arizona, and Rio Verde, Arizona, respectively. 

The South Dakota men carded a stroke count of 279 (-9), which was a new low round in the 2024-2025 season. They finished (-10) in the tournament.

South Dakota had a total stroke count of 854, which placed them sixth overall out of 20 teams.

Senior Logan Hamak recorded a career low round with (-6) and a total stroke count of 210. Hamak tied for tenth place out of 116 golfers, which was his second top ten finish this season.

Sophomore Cole Witherow finished in the top 25 by scoring (-2) on the course. Graduate senior Max Schmidtke was the third finisher for the Coyotes with a score of (-1). 

The men will head to Southern Pines, North Carolina on March 10 for the Donald Ross Intercollegiate.

The South Dakota women scored a tournament low on the final day of their tournament with a score of 304 and tallied seven birdies.

Sophomore Ella Greenberg led the Coyotes in the tournament, tying for 28th place overall with a score of 75 (+3). Sophomore Ava Schroeder finished next for USD with a stroke count of 74 (+2) while collecting two birdies on the back nine.

The women will be back on the greens in Abilene, Texas for the West Texas Classic on March 3.
