Kendall Kritenbrink is a freshman outside hitter from Gretna, Neb. on the University of South Dakota volleyball team. She currently leads the team with 199 kills on the season and on Sept. 15, she set a school record for kills in a match with 34.

Austin Ashlock:    Do the English people eat English muffins, or are they just called muffins?

Kendall Kritenbrink:    I would say English people eat English muffins, yes.

AA:    Waffles or Pancakes? And why?

KK:    Definitely pancakes. Pancakes with chocolate chips. I don’t like the squares in waffles they fill up with syrup and that’s gross.

AA:    What’s your favorite kind of dorm food?

KK:    Chicken patties.

AA:    Do you have a guilty pleasure band/artist? If so, who?

KK:    I am embarrassed to say that I am a Justin Bieber fan.

AA:    What is the worst movie you have ever seen?

KK:    Joy Ride. Without a doubt. We watched it on the road once. It was meant to be scary but it just ended up making us laugh.

AA:    Can fish swim backwards?

KK: Never seen a fish do that, so I don’t think

AA:    Do you have any hidden talents or abilities?

KK:    I can make the Chewbacca noise. I found out in eighth grade at a track meet. Most people were pretty impressed but some thought it was weird. Hit-and-miss.

AA:    What is the biggest difference between high school volleyball and collegiate volleyball?

KK:    The speed of the game and the blocks. Hardly anyone in high school seemed to be over 6-foot, now that is not the case.

AA:    Do your friends or family have any nicknames for you?

KK:    I recently found out my new nickname is Kren.

AA:    If you could play any other sport besides volleyball what would it be?

KK:    I would love to play football, just to take people out.

AA:    What are you looking forward to most about your time playing for USD?

KK:    That’s a toughie, beating my sister’s record of second in all-time kills at USD. I want to pass her and then take the No. 1 spot eventually.

AA:    What do you do to get ready for a big game? Any pre-game rituals?

KK:    In the locker room the team sings Seasons of Love from the musical Rent.

AA:    Which USD logo do you prefer?

KK:    I preferred the old U., the new logo seems to close to SDSU’s logo. The purpose of the new logo makes sense though.

AA:    Are you a cat or a dog person?

KK:    I like both cats and dogs. But I think dogs have the upper hand. They are fun to play with, cats just kind of lie around.

AA:    What are some of your goals for the rest of the season?

KK:    That’s tough, I would say probably to win some sort of Conference Award. Not one in particular.
