EDITOR’S NOTE: Each week The Volante sports staff will interview a member of the USD athletic community and ask them off-the-wall questions. Enjoy the hilarity.

First-year Casey Kasperbauer is a guard for the University of South Dakota men’s basketball team from Carrol, Iowa.

Kasperbauer averaged 24.6 points per game during his senior season at Carrol High School.

On Feb. 1, Kasperbauer was named ESPNHS Midwest Player of the Week after scoring 47 points in win over Winterset High School.

Jasen Robbennolt: What is your major?

Casey Kasperbauer: Kinesthelogy and Sports Science

JR: Who is your favorite professor this semester?

CK: My favorite professor is my English professor, Cynthia Ostrom.

JR: Who inspires you?

CK: My main inspiration would be my father.

JR: Do you have any pets?

CK: No I don’t.

JR: What is your favorite TV show?

CK: Spongebob Squarepants

JR: What is your favorite vacation spot?

CK: When I was in sixth grade my family traveled to New York City. I Got to spend time with my brother and do some sight seeing in Washington, D.C.

JR: What other sports do you like to play or watch?

CK: I like to watch college football, and I played football in high school, so I would have to say that.

JR: What’s the best piece of advice you could give anyone?

CK: Control the controllable.

JR: If you could move anywhere, where would you like to move to?

CK: Arizona. My parents have told me some great stories about it. That make me want to go there.

JR: If you could learn another language, which would you choose?

CK: Probably Spanish.

JR: Would you describe yourself as a leader or a follower?

CK: A leader

JR: What famous person would you like to meet?

CK: Michael Jordan, hands down.

JR: Do you have a favorite website to go to?

CK: Twitter.
