USD Wins 15th straight set in sweep of Purdue-Fort Wayne

With sweeps against Western Illinois (1-23) and Purdue-Fort Wayne (14-12) over the weekend, Coyote volleyball is on a five-game win streak and hasn’t lost a set in the last 15.

USD at Western Illinois

USD (16-8) swept Western Illinois (1-23) with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-18 in Macomb, Ill. on Friday.

Senior outside hitter Hayley Dotseth led the Coyotes with 15 kills, followed by senior Taylor Wilson with 12. USD recorded a team hit percentage of .290 as freshman Jenna Wagemester hit .625 and Wilson hit .647. Redshirt freshman Madison Jurgens recorded five service aces,

“This is a tough trip, so every win is big for us,” head coach Leanne Williamson told GoYotes. “We are working on taking it one day at a time, which will be important for our success.”

USD at Purdue-Fort Wayne

The Coyotes recorded their sixth straight sweep against Purdue-Fort Wayne  26-24, 25-16, 25-22 in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Sunday.

Wilson and Dotseth again led the team in kills, with 15 and 13, respectively. Wilson was also recently awarded Summit League athlete of the week. Rasmussen recorded 25 digs, moving her to 15th most in the NCAA.

“Fort Wayne is a very good team and we were able to control the pace of the game.

USD moves to an overall record of 16-8, and a conference record of 10-2, where they stand second in the Summit League behind Denver (22-1).

The Coyote’s last loss came at the hand of Omaha on Oct. 5, and USD will look to give Denver their first loss at home since Sept. 16, 2017, on Tuesday.
