DakotaDome receives face-lift
University of South Dakota students noticed a change in the DakotaDome at the first football game this year when the summer renovations were finally exposed to the entire campus.
This summer major renovations took place at that DakotaDome, which included replacing all the stadium seats within the dome, updating the building with the new SD logo and a new basketball court.
DakotaDome director Jeanette Hubert said this summer was the best time to make the renovations.
“It was the right time for new seats,” Hubert said. “The old seats had been in the Dome since it colors.”
Sophomore Katie Ferguson, a track athlete, said the new seats really improve the quality of the DakotaDome.
“I like the new seats because they make the Dome look more professional,” Ferguson said. “I also really like the football mural because it covers up the benches really in.”
A brand new basketball court with the new logo was another major renovation to the dome.
Sophomore basketball player Jared Bartling said the new court is great.
“The court looks good,” Bartling said. “I really like the new logo.”
