The University of South Dakota’s men’s golf took second place at their second tournament of the year, Tuesday in Oxbrow, N.D. playing at North Dakota State University’s Erv Kaiser Classic.

The Coyotes ended the tournament with a three round score of 909, five shots short of first place.  The University of Manitoba shot a 299 on the final day to win the tournament.

USD was led by senior Lucas Turner, who shot a total score of 224, good enough for fourth overall.  Juniors Ty Munneke and Ben Heller finished tied for fifth overall with a total score of 225.

The team had their first tournament on Sept. 12 at the Nebraska Fairway Club Invitational. They finished 12th out of 12 teams.

Munneke, who shot a 69 on Monday at NDSU, said the team is going to continue to improve.

“We’re a young team,” Munneke said. “The more tournament experience for our guys, the limit.”
