Q&A: No stuffed animals for Marlette

EDITOR’S NOTE: Each week The Volante sports staff will interview a member of the USD athletic community and ask them off-the-wall questions. Enjoy the hilarity.

Tim Marlette is a junior  red shirt linebacker from Sioux Falls, S.D. on the USD football team. He has seven total tackles on the year so far. In 2010 he played in 8 games and had 14 total tackles with six solo tackels. He was named the USD’s defensive player of the week once last year.

Cassie Bartlett: Why doesn’t McDonald’s sell hotdogs?

Tim Marlette: I’m not supposed to laugh at that? Because they don’t have hotdog buns.

CB: Do you eat ice cream in winter?

TM: Of course. Ice cream’s awesome no matter what time of year it is.

CB: What do you think about Governor Daugaard inviting Brett Favre to hunt?

TM: Brett Favre seems like a really out-door guy so I bet he’d enjoy himself.

CB: Do you put your Pop-Tarts in the toaster?

TM: I throw mine in the freezer, actually. They get all chilly and delicious.

CB: How do you eat your eggs?

TM: Scrambled usually with a lot of cheese and Lawry’s seasoning salt.

CB: What kind of jelly do you use for PB&Js?

TM: Grape.

CB: Are you an American car or foreign car kind of guy?

TM: American. Haha no, I don’t drive an American car, I don’t care. I’m a fan of cars that actually work.

CB: How often does your mom call you?

TM: About once every two weeks. It helps having my sister in college, I’m sure she gets called by my mom a lot more.

CB: Do you sleep with any stuffed animals?

TM: No. I’m going to straight up deny that one.

CB: What do you eat before games?

TM: Usually pasta of some kind.

CB: How long before a game do you eat it?

TM: Four hours.

CB: What is the one food item you steer clear of before games?

TM: Pizza. I had a bad experience with that in high school so I’ve never eaten it before a game since then.

CB: What song do you listen to to pump yourself up before games?

TM: I actually don’t listen to music before games. Pace around and get really nervous.

CB: How did you feel after beating Eastern Washington?

TM: I feel amazing. That was the best team to ever walk into the Dome and we sent them home with a butt kicking. It was a hell of a lot of fun.

CB: What are you doing to prepare for this week’s game?

TM: Watching a bunch of film and going out to practice trying to get better everyday.

CB: What do you think of the new USD billboard in Brookings?

TM: That thing is awesome, I hope they throw up 10 more of those across the state.

CB: Do you think SDSU is going to put one up in Vermillion?

TM: I don’t know how they can come up with something as clever as that, but they can try.
