Women’s soccer team drops two more close games
The University of South Dakota women’s soccer team lost two games this weekend against two non-conference opponents, the University of Wyoming and the University of Northern Colorado. The Coyotes (0-7-2) ended up losing 1-3 to Wyoming and 4-2 to Northern Colorado.
Against Wyoming, the Coyotes had a slow start, falling three goals to none until sophomore Afton Keiser scored her first goal of the season making the final score 3-1.
Keiser ended with two shots on goal for the Coyotes, who were outshot in the game 19-6.
Against Northern Colorado, the Coyotes ended up losing with a final score of 4-2.
Sophomore Jenny Teslow led the Coyotes with two goals in Sunday’s game against Northern Colorado.
Head coach Mandy Green said the team played well but couldn’t put a complete full game together on the road trip.
“In the Wyoming game we didn’t do so well in the first half, but in the second half we came out with a lot of energy and very competitive and were able to score a goal,” Green said. “And against Northern Colorado, I would say our first half was our best half of the season, energy and games.”
USD will resume play this Friday at home against Summit league rival Western Illinois at 4 p.m., then again on Sunday versus IUPUI at 1 p.m.
