Q & A: Hegge not a fan of cranberries

EDITOR’S NOTE: Each week The Volante sports staff will interview a member of the USD athletic community and ask them off-the-wall questions. Enjoy the hilarity.

Senior forward Amber Hegge is a member of the University of South Dakota women’s basketball team from Crofton, Neb.

Hegge ranks 15th all-time in career scoring with 1,163 point. She is one of 11 players in school history to eclipse 1,000 points and 500 rebounds for her career. She was named to the All-Great West Conference first team for the second straight year last season.

Austin Ashlock: Where does Aquaman poop?

Amber Hegge: I don’t know how to respond to that. I guess it’s a mystery.

AA: What’s on your Christmas list?

AH: I’m not really asking much for Christmas this year, but my gift of choice this year is those Forever Lazies. I bought four of them for my friends and family.

AA: What’s the last concert you went to?

AH: This summer I went to Diamond Rio.

AA: What’s the most scared you’ve ever been?

AH: Probably my freshman year when the team went to a haunted house. It was my only time. The seniors made me stand in the back, and I really don’t like being scared.

AA: If you could be a contestant on any game show what would it be?

AH: Probably the Amazing Race. It just looks fun, I think it would be great to see the world.

AA: What is your most memorable moment as a basketball player?

AH: I would say my most memorable moments were in my freshman year, during our championship run.

AA: Who was your idol growing up?

AH: When I was really little I liked Gary Payton.

AA: What’s the worst gift you have every received? What did you do with it?

AH: I’ve never really had a bad gift.

AA: Are you participating in Black Friday? Have you ever?

AH: No I haven’t. But I am this year. I have my eye on a crock pot at the Walmart in Yankton.

AA: What’s the last purchase you made?

AH: Yesterday I bought some Strawberry Nesquick at Walmart.

AA: What final are you most concerned about this semester?

AH: Easy question, Advanced Calculus. I have a great professor though, so that helps.

AA: What is the craziest play you have made?

AH: I remember when I was a sophomore I broke my nose with my knee. I was high jumping. It may not have been crazy or acrobatic, but it was in some way impressive.

AA: What personal goals have you made for yourself this season?

AH: I don’t know, I haven’t made too many personal goals. But we are in the Summit League now, so I hope we can just make the best of every game and earn some wins.

AA: If you had to choose one dish to throw away on Thanksgiving, which would it be?

AH: Proabably that cranberry stuff. Not a fan. Anything cranberry needs to go.

AA: What TV show do you think needs to be taken off the air?

AH: I would say “Glee.” I don’t hate it, but my roomates are obessed with it, so I’m pretty sick of it.

AA: What bold prediction would you make for the USD women’s basketball team this season?

AH: I don’t think I have any.
