Q&A: Boss-Wachal fan of Daffy Duck

Senior Jodie Boss-Wachal is a center for the University of South Dakota women’s basketball team out of Columbus, Neb.
Dec. 10, Wachal set the USD women’s career blocked-shots record when she collected a record seven blocks against the University of Northern Colorado.
Gabe Mambo: What three words would you use to describe your fellow teammates?
Jodie Boss-Wachal: I would say hard working, team-oriented and determined.
GM: What is the biggest accomplishment of your life outside of basketball?
JBW: My biggest accomplishment would be getting married to my husband, John. That’s a pretty big accomplishment for me.
GM: Who was your favorite professional athlete growing up, and are they still your favorite today?
JBW: Michael Jordan, although he is not playing today, is still my favorite. I’ve had his jersey number throughout my college basketball career.
GM: What is your all-time favorite sport to watch?
JBW: It would have to be basketball. Basketball is my all-time favorite spectator sport.
GM: What would you like to accomplish as a player before your career is over?
JBW: I would like to break my single-game block record, which stands at seven right now.
GM: What would be scarier: waking up in the middle of the night to mysterious footsteps in your home, or hearing a gut-wrenching scream in a dark wood?
JBW: Scream in the dark woods would probably be scarier for me.
GM: Which was worse: Rebecca Black’s “Friday” or Kim Kardashian’s marriage?
JBW: Rebecca Black’s “Friday” for sure.
GM: What do you plan to do after you graduate?
JBW: I plan get a job working as an assistant photographer until I get my own photography studio.
GM: You talked about having your own photography studio. What would be the dream location of your studio?
JBW: The dream location of my photography studio would be in the country on an acreage. I would also love to have my studio near the mountains. I enjoy taking picture of wildlifes and landscapes as well as working in portraiture.
GM: Which word would you use to describe the upcoming home game against SDSU?
JBW: Revenge.
GM: What would be your ideal vacation?
JBW: To go to Australia.
GM: If you could be any movie villain, who would you be and why?
JBW: Mystique from X-Men. She’s cool and she’s blue.
GM: How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
JBW: As much as it wanted — I don’t know!
GM: Billie Jean or Thriller?
BW: I would choose Thriller.
GM: Who’s your favorite cartoon character?
JBW: I’ll go with Daffy Duck, maybe, or any of the Looney Tunes.
GM: What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever heard a professsor say and why?
JBW: I can not think of anything funny my professor has said. Sorry.
