EDITOR’S NOTE: Each week The Volante sports staff will interview a member of the USD athletic community and ask them off-the-wall questions. Enjoy the hilarity.

Kate Turner: If you won the lottery what would you do with the money?
Jordan Rearick: I would buy a house on a really expensive golf course and then probably pay my parents back because golf is an expensive sport.
KT: When did you start playing golf?
JR: I was 1-year-old when I first held a club, and then I competitively played at age six.
KT: What would you say to your parents after all these years of playing?
JR: They gave me a great opportunity that many kids won’t get and they have always supported me.
KT: What’s the most embarrassing thing to ever happen during a match?
JR: I was hitting a shot and I had to stand half in the water. I took off my shoe and stepped into the water. Then, when I went to swing I ended up falling straight back into the water.
KT: What is your nickname on the team?
JR: “JR” just for my initials.
KT: Is there anything special you do before tournaments?
JR: We are having a team barbecue at a girl’s house, but normally when we’re not playing on the weekends we all go home to see our families.
KT: After college what are your plans with golf?
JR: I’ll continue to play if I get good enough I might play in a couple Pro tournaments to make money.
KT: What do you love most about the sport?
JR: It’s a funny game – one day you’re terrible and the next you can have the game of your life. It just reflects my life so much, and it’s in every aspect of my life. I just love being out there in my own mind, no school or tests or anything, just me and the game.
KT: Weirdest Christmas gift received?
JR: A fish bowl from my boyfriend.
KT: Weirdest gift ever given?
JR: I gave my brother a Patron bottle full of boxers. My family didn’t understand and I just thought it was funny.
KT: What food would you eat all the time?
JR: Spaghetti, or basically anything Italian.
KT: What are you most addicted to?
JR: I’m currently addicted to coffee. I love the Ultimate Vanilla Latte right now. I also am big into running.
KT: What color do you love most?
JR: I would say lime green because it’s so bright, but everyone who knows me would tell you pink.
KT: What is your favorite outfit to wear?
JR: I like to dress up when I can. I would put on my wedges, they are really comfy, and cute white jeans with a cute top: casual but dressy.
KT: What is something most of USD doesn’t realize about you/the USD’s women’s golf team?
JR: A lot of people don’t know we a golf team. It would be great to be recognized more for being on the team, and an athlete. I get asked a lot if I’m on the tennis team.
KT: How did you get involved with USD Golf?
JR: I was recruited my senior year of high school by coach Nick, I then came to visit campus and loved the size and the campus itself so I joined.
KT: How do you get ready for a tournament?
JR: We practice a lot. The day before we have a two hour practice and then pack all of our equipment and travel gear so we know we have everything.
KT: What has golf given you?
JR: It’s given me my education and a team to lean on. It’s my own world when I’m out there, plus it’s a great experience.
KT: What’s your favorite experience from golfing thus far?
JR: Golf Shores, Alabama in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s really pretty and right on the beach. We went swimming and it was just really fun.
