Clay County Commission issues burn ban
On July 19, the Clay County Commission announced issued a burn ban to take effect immediately.
This summer, the Clay county area has experienced extremely dry conditions due to lack of rain. The dry conditions have caused concern and in order to protect the health and safety ordinance 00-01 was put into effect.
Ordinance 000-01 was first adopted on May 9, 2000.
The ban means that no one can burn with an open flame. An open flame is classified as intentional burning of any substance in an open container that may allow the escape of flames, sparks or ashes.
The ban will continue until fire conditions improve.
