THE RANT: Dear everyone who missed USD,
Dear everyone who missed USD,
This summer was an excellent opportunity for some students to work and earn some money. For others, it was probably a very long and relaxing summer. In any case, I am sure you have all been waiting to start another exciting year at the University of South Dakota.
During the summer, no matter how short or long it might have seemed, I’m sure you were secretly waiting to return to your old dorms, new classrooms and embrace some of your old friends. In addition, I believe that you have been waiting for the return of The Volante, too.
How could you not miss those long walks through campus, morning sprinklers, music of the marching band and the sound of footsteps and the murmur of all students who hurried to class.
While I’m sure you didn’t miss your classes, exams and homework, you must have been eagerly waiting to see the new faces on campus, and discover who will share the classroom with you for the whole semester.
As the first few weeks have gone by, we have come to know our new roommates, classmates and we are able to remind ourselves where all the buildings are on campus. So, another wonderful year can start all over again. This time, it is filled with new stories, new friendships, new people, and new classes.
It is great to see the campus filled with life, and now is the time to bring back old memories, re-live them and create new ones. To another fantastic year, you all have a great semester ahead!
Sincerely,
Nina Barudzic Someone who missed USD a lot
