Letter to the editor: Honor and a Privilege
The University of South Dakota has become one of the institutional gems of the Midwest and a leading educational experience academically and athletically for students from all over the country. We believe the importance of the alma mater is the true clarification of one’s dedication to their roots. Because of this, we believe it is truly an honor and a privilege to be serving as your Homecoming King and Queen for the 150th Anniversary of USD.
What defines this school as the Flagship University for the State of South Dakota is the element of tradition that can be seen in all parts of campus. Last week we celebrated one of the oldest traditions on campus and truly enjoyed every minute of it. Throughout the entire week we were able to spend time with friends, alumni, faculty, staff, and administration. We all celebrated our school and all of the assets that exist within it. It is amazing to watch and experience the coyote pride that exists within each of our hearts, and it is through this legacy that Dakota Days illustrates a truly meaningful tradition.
To be frank, we love and cherish this University with our whole hearts and we wish the very best of luck to everyone in their educational and future endeavors whether they be in South Dakota or halfway across the world. The only outcome we believe is important from our gracious induction into the University Royalty is that you have seen and understand that we love USD and everything it has given us throughout the last three years.
We would like to thank each and every student, faculty, staff and administrator who believes in us as much as we believe in this institution. Thank you for taking part in one of the biggest celebrations this state has to offer and thank you for giving us the opportunity to represent the student body at the University of South Dakota.
