Royalty finalists announced at revealing ceremony
Finalists for Mr. and Miss Dakota were announced at the royalty revealing ceremony
Oct. 2.
The ceremony took place at Aalfs Auditorium in Slagle Hall and was followed by a pep rally in the courtyard outside of Aalfs. Both events were sponsored by the Dakota Days planning
committee.
The finalists for Mr. Dakota included Tyler Gilliland, Jerrett Kucera, Colin Michaels, Zac Sousek, Brenan Tjelmeland, Josh VanLaecken and Wade Wilkinson. Miss Dakota candidates were Shari Fischbach, Lori Hixson, Teresa Johnson, Darcy Leischner, Rebekah Rinehart, Shea Smith and Alissa
VanMeeteren.
The last round of voting for homecoming candidates will be available on the MyU portal Thursday. Polls will close on Friday.
After the votes are tallied, the official Mr. and Miss Dakota 2012 will be announced Oct. 6 during halftime of the USD vs. Western Illinois football game.
The finalists were nominated last spring by sponsoring student organizations. The first round of voting narrowed the field from 14 Mr. Dakota candidates and 14 Miss Dakota candidates to the current field.
