Slumping Coyotes return on the road against Oakland
After a tough loss Oct. 14, the Coyote women’s volleyball team is looking to improve themselves as they travel to Oakland this weekend.
Mental errors set the team back last weekend assistant coach Leanne Felsing said.
“We knew what we had to do to have success against the team and what we needed to do for ourselves, and we forgot those things as we started playing the match,” Felsing said.
The Coyotes (8-13) are 2-7 in conference play and will be going up against a Golden Grizzlies team which is currently 12-9 overall, and 5-4 in conference play.
The Coyotes previous match-up against the Grizzlies was a close one, losing 23-25, 25-23, 12-25, 22-25.
Junior Tori Kroll said the team will need to prepare thoroughly before heading to Auburn Hills, Mich., and they need ro keep focused on improving as a team.
“They have a really good outside, and a lot of slides for the middle. We need to be ready and quick,” Kroll said.
Senior Kim Bulaga said this week, they are going to prepare for Oakland in practice by being aggressive and going out there and giving it their all.
“Oakland is going to be tough. They don’t let anything drop,” Bulaga said. “They are going to bring the ball back until we make an error and that is what we will do too. They are that aggressive team we are trying to be right now.”
Playing with aggression and keeping the number of errors low will be a major goal as the Coyotes roll into this weekend’s match.
They are a well-balanced team that brings it every single day,” Felsing said.
